1. Describe in writing, orally, or with pictures how the early pioneers met the following basic living needs: Housing, furnishings, Clothing, Food, Cooking, Warmth and light, Tools and Handiwork, Sanitation, and Transportation.
2. Construct a piece of useful furniture by lashing. Learn the following lashings:
SQUARE, Diagonal, Sheer, and Continuous.
4. Know how to make flour from at least one wild plant for use in baking.

Have a Cornbread "Bake-off" - Break Pathfinders into small groups of 2-4. Provide each group with a cornbread recipe. Also, provide a pantry of ingredients. Give options: white or yellow corn meal; white or whole wheat flour; milk or buttermilk; sugar or honey; etc. Allow Pathfinders to cook a batch of corn bread. Choose a staff member to judge the finish product. Declare a winner. Award prizes.
